What do you have to do next?

When you get home, right away go and start working on the car. That’s really the only way to get things done after work.

I was about to post some videos of glorious rotary noise to get you motivated, but then I saw you were doing an LS swap.

You’re doing the Devil’s work son, can’t help you there.

Go forth and sin, I guess.

Make a bunch of money, and then pay someone else to do it.

Pick one thing to get done on the car by the end of this week and get it done. Don’t worry about doing a ton of stuff, just pick something to get the ball rolling and stick to it.

Get a wife that will nag you about the car taking up space... best motivation in the world.

Don’t think.. Just start doing it. I have a gazillion projects I need to do but haven’t done because I don’t follow my own advice - added just so you can feel superior to me or about as bad as me.

I would say “Set a deadline so that you have a time it has to be done by” but that’s not working that well, for me.

The fact that it’s going to stop eating apex seals should be motivation enough.

Break it up into small steps and maybe try to work on it for like 10 minutes a day so that it becomes a habit and that you could always do about 10 minutes. Making yourself feel guilty about it won’t really help either so just try to do it for the feeling you will get when you do finish it.

I’ve moved my ranger exactly 4 times since June. About 6 inches every time, to avoid unmanageble flat spots on the tires.

Recruit David Tracy’s help when he passes through. You might not even have to stop him...

in all seriousness, tho, I have the same problem. And I usually end up buying another project, which is counterintuitive. But honestly I think it helps sometimes because when things aren’t going well with one, I can go work on the other to relieve stress.

Pull mazda trans to sell and keep stripping interior

For me it comes down to just doing it. Coming home and heading out to the garage/driveway/basement directly. If I stop “for a second” to check my email or something I never get back up.

If it isn’t something you can work on every day, schedule time for it. Put on your calendar regular days/times to work on it. And when those times come up, go out to the barn and be with the car. Even if you don’t feel like working on it, commit to being there for that time block. I know if I go hang out in the garage I end up getting something done, even if it is just cleaning & organizing the bits for a project.

Perfect, try to get the interior done at least to get back into it. And then I was going to say the same as Chris-k-f

That’s probably the only reasonable reason to stick an LS in an RX7 (instead of buying a cheap LS-powered car, let’s say).

You got a deadline set?

I found that most of my builds go much quicker when I know I have to be ready for something (first autocross of the season, a particular show...).

Go to a cars and coffee or similar car meet. seemed to work for me. when you see all the other cars and start talking to people it gets the mojo flowing again. maybe find a new friend or two that have done this before and would like to help or give you some pointers.

I hear you, I used to work during the day and at night, so I ended up working once a week when I was restoring my car, so I know what you mean, the weird looks i would get with a half wet sanded car. ahahahah
